“He is my guy” Basketmouth Clears the Air on Wizkid's 'Shade,'

Nigerian comedian Basketmouth has set the record straight regarding the supposed shade thrown at him by Grammy-winning singer Wizkid. Earlier in the year, Wizkid sparked controversy when he called out his colleague Davido, and in one of his remarks, seemed to poke fun at Basketmouth. The singer mentioned that Bobo, Davido’s former lawyer and childhood friend, was always following him around dressed like a comedian, implying a comparison to Basketmouth’s style.

In response, Basketmouth playfully addressed the situation by posting a video from fashion designer Seyi Vodi’s store in Abuja. He showcased a matching black shirt and trousers, humorously asking if his outfit was good enough for Wizkid's approval.

A fan, however, came to Basketmouth's defense in the comment section, expressing that they didn’t believe Wizkid was targeting him. The fan suggested that the singer was actually criticizing the lawyer for dressing unprofessionally, not Basketmouth. “I don’t think Wizkid was shading you. He was saying the lawyer dressing like a comedian isn’t professional. Entertainers can rock any look, but I’ve never seen a lawyer with tinted hair and beards.”

Basketmouth responded by confirming that he understood Wizkid wasn’t shading him, noting that Wizkid is his "guy." He explained that he was simply taking advantage of the misunderstanding to promote his new movie, enjoying the attention. “Oh! Of course, I know. He’s my guy 💯. But I have a movie to promote, so why not catch some cruise with the misconception most people had about it?”

In a smart PR move, Basketmouth turned the situation into a promotional opportunity, embracing the humor in the misunderstanding while promoting his upcoming project.
