Nollywood actress Bukola Arugba took to social media to share a heartfelt throwback photo and an inspiring message of encouragement. In the post, she wrote a touching letter to her younger self, offering wisdom and life lessons. Reflecting on the challenges and blessings of life, she particularly emphasized the importance of resilience, self-worth, and staying true to one’s values as a girl child.
In her letter, Bukola reminded her younger self never to be limited by gender, and to reject the idea of compromising one’s integrity for material gain. She encouraged building a strong relationship with God and always remembering self-worth.
Her letter read:
LETTER TO THE YOUNGER ME
"Dear Oluwabukola,
The world is filled with so many blessings and opportunities, but it also comes with many challenges.
Being a girl child is even more challenging because many will try to limit you, but never limit yourself.
Never say to yourself, 'I couldn’t attain certain heights because I’m a girl.' Your gender has nothing to do with the heights you can reach.
Never give your body in exchange for money or material possessions.
Have a strong relationship with GOD and never sell yourself cheaply to anyone, not even out of pity.
Remember, you are the prize, and people need to pay a price to win the PRIZE."
Yours sincerely,
Your older self, Oluwabukola Grace Awoyemi
She concluded by proudly celebrating her role as a Girl Child Ambassador on World Girl Child Day, using her platform to inspire young girls to persevere, stay strong, and know their worth. Her fans responded positively, praising her for her wisdom and uplifting message.
