Nollywood actress Toyosi Adesanya has shared her harrowing experiences of a failed marriage and an attempt on her life during an interview with fellow actress Bimpe Akintunde on the YouTube show Iriri Mi.
Toyosi revealed that her 15-year marriage was fraught with challenges, despite her immense efforts to make it work. She recounted a chilling assassination attempt she narrowly escaped, although, tragically, another person lost their life in her stead.
The actress shared how she sacrificed her stardom and moved from Lagos to Akure to focus on her marriage, fetching water and enduring other struggles to support her husband. She even traveled abroad at her own expense to salvage the union. However, Toyosi eventually left the marriage, prioritizing her safety after learning of spiritual dangers lurking in her marital home.
Despite being in a current relationship, Toyosi has vowed never to remarry, as she believes in having only one wedding in her lifetime. She disclosed how Bimpe Akintunde supported her during the difficult times by visiting her with foodstuffs and offering encouragement.
"The elders in the industry knew how much I tried. The person I married didn’t offend me directly, but he allowed the devil into our home. The house we built together, I left it for him because my life is more important," she said.
Toyosi also recounted a spiritual intervention when senior actors visited her home, identifying harmful items and praying against her demise.
Her courage in sharing her story has drawn admiration from fans and colleagues, shedding light on the resilience required to overcome personal and spiritual battles.
