Aminat Omowunmi Yekini, the wife of popular Nollywood actor Ibrahim Yekini, also known as Itele, has shared insights into their nearly decade-long marriage during an interview on Bimpe Akintunde's talk show, Iriri Mi.
Aminat revealed that she met Itele when he had very little to his name. Despite this, she stood by him because of her love and admiration for his character and attitude. She recounted how her friends mocked her over the car he used to pick her up during their early days, but she remained undeterred because she believed in his potential and feared God.
“I always said I wouldn’t marry a celebrity, but Itele’s behavior and his fear of God won me over. Whenever he considers doing something wrong, he stops because he knows God would be displeased,” she shared.
Although their relationship faced challenges initially, especially due to his frequent traveling for movie shoots, Aminat admitted that she eventually adapted. She noted that while it was difficult at first, she now embraces his busy schedule and even wishes he traveled more.
Aminat also praised Itele for staying grounded and avoiding dishonesty or inappropriate relationships. She emphasized that his fear of God has been key to keeping him on the right path. To maintain peace in their marriage, she chooses to overlook his interactions with female fans, trusting in his integrity.
Reflecting on their journey, Aminat expressed gratitude for their bond and the grace of God that has sustained their marriage. Her unwavering support for Itele, even during difficult times, highlights the strength of their partnership and mutual respect.
