Atinuke Ogungbe, the first wife of Nollywood actor Segun Ogungbe, has reaffirmed her love for him as he marks his birthday today, March 28th.
Taking to Instagram, Atinuke shared an old video of herself and the actor at a birthday party, accompanied by a heartfelt Muslim background song. The lyrics emphasized the deep love she has for her husband, declaring that such affection is rare.
In her birthday message, she described Segun as "the love of my life," expressing gratitude for their moments together and excitement for the future. She prayed for God’s continued blessings, good health, and happiness in his life.
Her message read:
"Happy Birthday to the love of my life! On your special day, I pray for God’s continued blessings, good health, and happiness. I cherish our moments together and look forward to years of love and laughter. I love you."
Despite being married to Atinuke, Segun later married his colleague, Wumi Ajiboye. However, their marriage ended in 2023 amid reports that Segun could not sustain Wumi’s luxurious lifestyle, allegedly leading her to seek external financial support. Their separation became more evident when Wumi organized an elaborate burial ceremony for her mother, during which Segun played no significant role, instead focusing on caring for their children.
Following their split, Wumi publicly accused Segun of infidelity, claiming he engaged in inappropriate relationships with her female staff, forced some into abortions, and disrespected her in their marriage. She also accused him of setting her up for online trolls without defending her. Adding to the controversy, Wumi’s lukewarm appreciation message to Segun after her mother's burial fueled speculation, with reports suggesting that Lagos transport boss, MC Oluomo, played a role in their breakup.
After his failed marriage, Segun shifted his attention back to Atinuke. During her birthday in April 2024, he showered her with praises, calling her the woman who brings him the most joy and the best wife he could ever have. He reflected on their journey, acknowledging both their struggles and their deepening love.
Atinuke, in what many interpreted as a subtle reaction to Wumi’s exit, expressed gratitude to God, reassuring her followers that "God is still good to me."
