Popular Yoruba actor Ibrahim Chatta has revealed the financial difficulties he is currently facing, admitting that he has been unable to pay his employees’ salaries for the past four months.
In a video shared on his Instagram page (@Ibrahimchatta_lordthespis), the veteran actor disclosed that he has 42 staff members under his employment but has struggled to meet their wage demands due to the harsh economic situation in Nigeria.
Calls for Better Economic Management
Chatta emphasized the need for the Nigerian government to effectively harness the country's natural resources to improve the economy and make life easier for citizens.
In his words:
"I have 42 staff working for me, but I’m sad that I haven’t paid their salaries for four months now. I know some people will criticize me, but I’m not saying this because I want anyone to pay my staff for me. I just want people to know that things are tough everywhere right now. Most of the jobs I do in the Yoruba movie industry are for free, and even when I charge, I take very little from my friends."
Social Media Reactions
Chatta’s revelation has sparked reactions from fans and fellow actors, with many sympathizing with his situation and expressing concern over Nigeria’s struggling economy.
Here are some of the reactions:
@bukkywright: "Mashallah. May Allah accept our prayers and services as an act of Ibadah. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻"

@sundr: "Let’s meet, sir. We really need to talk. I guess you are the type of leader we need. 😢"
@realfunky: "May Allah accept our act of Ibadah and save our dear and only country. Allahumma Ameen. 🤲 🤲"
@kingashdy: "I don’t know why I got teary while watching this speech 😭. Sise sise wa dabi ole, this country is killing dreams."
@olufunny: "Living in the UAE has made me realize that most of our leaders do not fear God. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, and Kuwait are using their oil money to develop their countries. Their governments provide sustainable benefits for citizens. If a road needs to be reconstructed, they don’t care about the cost—it will be completed within a year. I pray that God will deliver Nigeria from the hands of wicked leaders in my lifetime."
Chatta’s heartfelt message has further fueled discussions about the economic crisis in Nigeria, with many calling for urgent reforms to support struggling businesses and individuals.
