"Please, I Don’t Want to Go to Prison” – Ijoba Lande Tearfully Apologizes to Funke Akindele, Retracts ₦90K Allegation

Nollywood actor and content creator Kehinde Ganiyu, popularly known as Ijoba Lande, has issued a heartfelt public apology to veteran actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele, just hours after calling her out online.

Earlier, Ijoba Lande caused a stir when he alleged in a viral video that he was paid only ₦90,000 for a month-long role in one of Funke Akindele’s productions, filmed at Amen Estate. His statement sparked widespread backlash, with many accusing the award-winning actress of unfair treatment.

However, in a surprising turn of events less than 24 hours later, the skitmaker released a new video retracting his claims and begging for forgiveness. In the emotional video, Ijoba Lande was seen prostrating flat on the ground, tearfully pleading with Nigerians to help him apologize to Funke Akindele.

According to him, the initial video was edited in a misleading way, which he claimed made him look ungrateful and disrespectful. He clarified that the correct amount he was paid was ₦190,000, not ₦90,000 as widely circulated. He also emphasized that he never intended to damage Funke Akindele’s image or speak ill of her.

“I am very sorry, I never meant to disrespect her. That edited video has put me in danger. Please, help me beg her before this matter spoils my life,” he said tearfully.

Ijoba Lande added that he feared potential legal consequences, as he did not want his earlier statements to escalate into a lawsuit. He maintained that Funke Akindele had done nothing wrong to him and recalled working with her in 2018 on her TV series My Siblings and I, where he played a gateman.

The video has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians praising him for owning up to his mistake, while others urged celebrities to be cautious with public accusations.
