"We Don’t Want Marriage" Actress Iyabo Ojo Opens Up About Her Relationship with Paulo Okoye

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has opened up about her relationship with Nigerian music executive Paul Okoye, popularly known as Paulo, revealing that their love is not headed towards marriage.

In a recent interview on TVC's Your View, the mother of two explained that while she is in a committed relationship with Paulo, they both enjoy their independence. Iyabo noted that whenever she needs personal space, she leaves his house and returns to hers — a decision Paulo respects without arguments.

“Because of the way I work, I’m such a workaholic, and he is also a workaholic. That Igbo man likes to work,” she said. “There are times when I just want to be alone, and I pack my bags and go back to my house. We don’t fight about it; he understands. We don’t want marriage.”

Iyabo first went public with her relationship with Paulo on her 45th birthday on December 21, 2022. She made their love official by posting a video collage of their moments together, confirming long-standing rumors about their romance.

Later in an interview, Paulo humorously revealed that Iyabo “snatched him from his side chics” and had taken over his space. Iyabo responded by affirming that their relationship is all about companionship and enjoyment, not about raising more children — as they both already have two kids from previous relationships.

Despite facing criticism online, especially from trolls accusing her of loving Paulo more than he loves her, Iyabo stood her ground. She boldly reaffirmed her deep love for him, describing it as a “forever deal,” and didn’t hold back in clapping back at naysayers who questioned her romantic devotion.

The actress continues to show that her relationship with Paulo is built on mutual understanding, independence, and shared happiness, even without marriage in the picture.
