Rapper Drake Wins $1 Million After Betting on Canada to Beat South Africa at the World Cup

Canadian rapper Drake has earned a huge payday after Canada secured a 1-0 victory over South Africa in their FIFA World Cup Round of 32 match.

The Toronto-born music star had confidently placed a massive bet of $770,000 (worth over N1 billion) on Canada to win the knockout-stage encounter. The wager came with a potential payout of $1,001,000, and Canada's narrow victory ensured the bet was successful.

With the win, Drake received the full payout, making an estimated profit of about $231,000 from the gamble.

Before the match, Drake revealed what inspired him to place the high-stakes bet. According to him, South African DJ Black Coffee had been teasing him in direct messages ahead of the game.

Sharing a screenshot of his betting slip on social media, Drake jokingly wrote:

“@realblackcoffee was chirping in the DM. I had to raise the STAKES.”

Drake is widely known for his love of sports betting and has regularly placed large wagers on major sporting events over the years. His betting history includes the NBA Finals, UFC championship fights, boxing matches, and major international football tournaments, with many of his bets attracting widespread attention from fans online.
