Six LAUTECH Nursing Students Die in Tragic Road Accident While Heading for Final Exams

No fewer than six final-year nursing students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) have been confirmed dead in a tragic road accident.


The victims were 500-level students in the university’s Open and Distance Learning Bachelor of Nursing Science programme. They were travelling to Ogbomoso, Oyo State, to sit for their final examinations when the fatal crash occurred. The trip was meant to mark the final stage of their academic journey.


Reports revealed that one of the students was heavily pregnant at the time of the accident. Their bodies have been deposited in a mortuary, where they are awaiting autopsy and further instructions from the authorities.


The heartbreaking news has thrown the university community into mourning. Friends and classmates who had looked forward to seeing them in the examination hall are now struggling to come to terms with the shocking loss.



Sources also disclosed that the deceased students were practicing nurses before their deaths. They had been combining their hospital duties with academic work, balancing their careers, family responsibilities, and the demanding requirements of professional training.
