“Nobody Was Booking Me Then” — Fuji Star Alao Sefiu Shares How Ifa Worship Transformed His Career

Popular Fuji musician Alao Sefiu has opened up about his spiritual journey into Ifa worship and how it reportedly changed his life and music career.

The singer said the experience began years ago when his music career was struggling and he was barely getting show bookings. According to him, someone advised him to reconnect with his roots by undergoing initiation into Ifa.

He revealed that his late mother, who was a devout Muslim and a veiled woman, surprisingly played a key role in guiding him into the spiritual path.

He said:

“I could remember that year I was initiated into Ifa. In fact, it was my late mother that was a Muslim then and she was an Eleha that wears Purdah that took me to Baba Ifa place. I was so scared initially.”

The musician added that he was shocked the following day when his mother removed her veil and personally took him to consult Ifa.

“I was so surprised the following morning when my mother took off her Purdah and took me to consult Ifa,” he said.

Alao Sefiu also explained that what he saw at the consultation centre changed his mindset, as people were freely sharing their personal struggles and seeking solutions without being stopped.

“I discovered when we got there everyone was going inside to discuss their secrets and problems and I wasn’t stopped,” he added.

According to him, his life and career improved significantly after the initiation, as he began to experience more opportunities and recognition in the music industry.

“Ever since then, my life has changed, my career started blossoming,” he said.

The Fuji star also shared his personal views on religion and cultural identity, saying he believes Ifa is part of Yoruba heritage.

“I later discovered Muslim religion is actually meant for Larabawa, while Christianity is meant for English people and Ifa is meant for us the Yorubas, we are from Ile Ife not Larabawa,” he concluded.

His comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with many debating his claims about religion and tradition.
