Nollywood actress Bukunmi Oluwasina has voiced her disappointment with her colleagues for not showing support to rising actress Jumola Bello, who is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest acting performance on stage. In a heartfelt post on her Instagram, Bukunmi expressed her frustration, revealing that Jumola had reached out to many in the industry, but they either ignored her or did not show up.
Bukunmi criticized the lack of support within the industry, stating that the only people who receive love and encouragement are those who are seen as beneficial later. She described this as not true love or support, but rather an "emotional transaction." She questioned why people in the industry can’t occasionally support others who can't directly benefit them and lamented that if a celebrity were attempting this, the response would have been different.
Bukunmi called on her colleagues to rally behind Jumola, urging them not to wait until it’s too late to show support. She wrote, “Please let’s show support... Win or not, she is in a critical stage at the moment because of the disappointment she got from her colleagues. Let’s not watch people die before we show up for them.”
Actor Jigan Babaoja also showed his support for Jumola, emphasizing that he doesn’t engage in false friendships in the industry, but he is backing her to succeed. He shared on his Instagram, "I don’t kiss anyone’s ass, which is why I’m not friends with everybody. But @realojumolabello, go and win."
Jumola Bello, exhausted from her multi-day attempt at breaking the record, has yet to receive widespread support from her industry peers, with only a few showing up. Bukunmi's message has sparked conversation about unity and genuine support in Nollywood.
